Services and clinics

Appointments

  • All consultations are by appointment. Appointments can be booked by telephone or online*.  To register for this service please email or telephone the surgery.
  • Please remember that an appointment is for 10 minutes for ONE PERSON ONLY. A separate appointment should be made for each patient attending.
  • To help the doctors keep to time, If you have more than one health issue to discuss, please talk to the receptionist about booking a double appointment.
  • If you are unable to keep your appointment please inform us as soon as possible.

Appointment Options

Routine:
A 10 minute appointment with patient’s usual doctor.
Urgent:
A 10 minute appointment with the duty doctor (usually made via the triage nurse)
Telephone: A 5 minute booked telephone consultation.  Normally with your usual doctor but may be duty doctor  if required same day.

Home Visits

Patients may be seen at home if the doctor considers a home visit is necessary because of the patient’s medical condition or If you are unable to come to the surgery. Requests for visits should be made before 10.00am. Visits requested after 10.00am will normally be booked for the next day.

Test Results

Please telephone or call into the surgery , after 11 am if possible, for results of laboratory tests, smears, x-rays etc. 

Telephone Advice

Advice will be given either by the duty nurse or duty doctor. You may be asked the nature of the problem and for your telephone number so that we can call you back.


Health Visitors  

The health visitors admin office is in Eastleigh.  They will still be running baby clinics in the surgery.   To contact the health visitors please telephone: 023 8062 7961

Registering For Automated Appointments

To register to use our 24 hour automated telephone and online appointment system, please speak to a receptionist or email us.  

Repeat Prescriptions

  • Repeat prescriptions can be requested in person, by leaving a written request, by post, via our website comment form, or by email  prescriptions-stokewood@gp-J82018.nhs.uk. We are unable to take them by phone due to the risk of errors.   
  • Please allow 48 hours (excluding Saturday/Sunday and bank holidays) for preparation and signature.
  • A repeat request form attached to all computer printed prescriptions for your convenience.
  • Please request only items that you require to reduce incidence of unwanted drugs.
  • A prescription collection service is available. For more details please see the pharmacist or ask at reception.
  • Do your medications run out at different times? If they do, ask for help from the pharmacist or our pharmaceutical adviser to simplify your requirements

  • Minor surgery is carried out by arrangement with your doctor. Options include the removal of cysts, moles, skin tags,

  • Physiotherapy, chiropody and counselling are available at the surgery on referral by a doctor.

Cervical Smears

All women between the ages of 25 and 64 are eligible for a cervical smear test every three to five years.

Family Planning

The practice nurses and doctors are happy to advise on all aspects of contraception including emergency contraception.

Travel Clinic

Our practice nurses are able to provide comprehensive advice and immunisation for foreign travel. Please contact the surgery and select the travel clinic option.  Please leave a message stating your destination and departure date and the names of all family members travelling.  A nurse will call you back to discuss your requirements. We are a registered yellow fever vaccination centre. 

Non-NHS Services

Medical examinations are available for special purposes such as pre-employment, HGV and taxi drivers, fitness to travel, etc. Please enquire at reception for booking details and fees.
